Buyers sometimes ask what it’s really like to work with GW. This story is the honest answer.
It began in 1932, when our father started a small business selling stoves and replacement parts. His reputation for quality, reliability, and integrity grew — and so did the business, from a single foundry into a family of five. Then markets changed. Costs rose. One by one, four of those foundries closed.
One thing never changed: our commitment to putting customers first.
In 2011, a massive fire destroyed the GW foundry in Rehoboth, Massachusetts. For most companies, that would have been the end of the story.
Instead, the phone started ringing. Customers weren’t calling to say goodbye. They were calling to say:
Think about what that means from a buyer’s side of the table. A supplier’s plant burned down — and its customers asked it to keep going, because the relationship was worth more than the building. That was the moment we understood our real value: our customers didn’t need another foundry. They needed a trusted manufacturing partner.
Out of that fire came a new model. Instead of rebuilding a foundry, we rebuilt GW around a single idea: do whatever it takes to deliver the right manufacturing solution for every customer.
Today that means a carefully qualified network of domestic and international foundries, managed with decades of hands-on foundry expertise. Every partner earns its place through a rigorous supplier management process — qualified, audited, monitored, and held accountable before a single part reaches you. No matter where a casting is produced, the quality standard is always GW’s.
We’ve changed the way we manufacture. We haven’t changed the way we do business.
That’s been the GW way since 1932 — and it’s what you can expect on your first assignment with us.
